William Chang is a freelance photographer based in Kuching, Malaysia. He began photographing in 1995 with his first Nikon F100 SLR film camera. By 1999, William had invested a lot into photography, something he realizes is fast becoming an essential part of his life. As he ventures further into the field, he believes that putting whole-hearted effort is thekey to produce beautiful photographs.
William made the shift from film photography to digital photography in 2000 with his first digital SLR, a Nikon D70.
In his early days as a photographer, William specialized in outdoor photography, in particular nature and landscapes. He added portrait, wedding and events photography to his portfolio beginning late 2002.
In 2001, he was appointed as an official photographer for the Soka Gakkai, a Buddhist-related non-governmental organization. He is then appointed as official photographer by the Sarawak Children Cancer Society in 2004. Besides that, he also officially photographs for commercial firms, particularly for Grandsun International, a hydrotherapy company from Taiwan, since 2005. Currently, he is a club member of the Sarawak Photo-Art Society, a registered society for photography enthusiasts in Sarawak and also cooperated with Malaysia Entrepreneur magazine. He is much indebted to his mentors in photography, namely Mr Harry Tan and Mr Lee Shan Yoo, who have accompanied him all this while in his photographic journey.
